Abstract:

First order phase transitions are very common phenomena in our real world. In this talk, I will introduce a universal physical picture of first order phase transitions, which can be most clearly seen from holography (applied AdS/CFT). This picture can be made precise by the so-called landscape, from which we can understand why critical behaviors are ubiquitous in systems with first order phase transitions, where the inhomogeneous cases are of special interest.

Introduction of Speaker:

田雨，2003年博士毕业于北京大学物理学院，毕业后在中国科学院理论物理研究所作为博士后从事研究工作。2005年至2008年任北京理工大学理学院任副教授。2008年6月加入中国科学院大学，现为中国科学院大学物理科学学院教授。近年来的研究兴趣主要集中在AdS/CFT（规范/引力对偶）及其应用和推广、数值相对论及其在黑洞和引力波中的应用、空间引力波探测等。
